With two diving boards for instruction, our mixed-ability dive lessons are geared toward teaching the basic fundamentals of diving.  Being able to flip and twist are great attributes in the sport of diving, but basic fundamentals are the tools that create successful divers.  While many young divers want to throw themselves off the diving board with reckless abandon and limitless energy, it is important to help them understand that learning to dive correctly takes time, patience and practice.  The goal is to teach basic diving skills in a fun and exciting environment with the safety of the participant being the primary concern.  Beginners work on safety, and basic front and back dives.  More advanced divers will learn new, more difficult dives, dependent on individual readiness.

Many LFC members take both swim and dive lessons all season long as a great way to enhance fitness and enjoyment of the pool!  LFC Dive Lessons are also great preparation and additional training for participation in the LFC Dive Team.   Lessons are 30 minutes and run every morning from Monday – Friday in one-week sessions.  Minimum age is eight years old (as of June 1).

You can view dive lesson schedules and enroll in dive lessons under “Camps/Classes” in the Scheduling section when you are logged into your LFC membership account.

To participate in LFC Dive Team, your child must be at least eight years old (as of June 1) and have either been a member of the prior year dive team or have passed the dive team assessment.  At dive team assessment, divers must successfully demonstrate that they can perform the required number of dives for their age group.  If the diver doesn't have a mastery of the required number of dives for their age group, but shows the ability to learn them during the season, they will qualify for team at the coach's discretion.  Our goal is to include as many kids as possible on the team, but first and foremost to keep everyone safe.  Please see the LFC Swim/Dive/Water Polo Key Dates document for Dive Team Assessment date.

The fee for joining the Dive Team is $140 and is waived for any LFC High School member.  Registration is available under the “Membership” tab after logging in to the LFC membership system.    While not required for participation, the same LFC swim team suit is available for purchase.

Dive Team Practice

Divers who are 10 & under practice Monday-Thursday from 8:00-8:45 am.  Those divers aged 11+ practice Monday-Thursday from 9:25-10:10 am.  Fun Fridays are for all ages with practice and donuts from 9:00 -10:15 a.m.

Dive Team Meets

The LFC Dive Team participates in meets in a round-robin circuit with other teams in the Intersuburban Swim Conference.  Keep in mind that dive meets go much quicker than swim meets, so the time commitment for parents and divers is not as great.  The meets typically last around 1-2 hours, depending on the number of participants.  The LFC Dive Team meet schedule will be posted on the LFC Swim/Dive/Water Polo Key Dates as it becomes finalized.
