DIVE LESSONS

20170711_117.JPG

With two diving boards for instruction, our mixed-ability dive lessons are geared toward teaching the basic fundamentals of diving.  Being able to flip and twist are great attributes in the sport of diving, but basic fundamentals are the tools that create successful divers.  While many young divers want to throw themselves off the diving board with reckless abandon and limitless energy, it is important to help them understand that learning to dive correctly takes time, patience and practice.  The goal is to teach basic diving skills in a fun and exciting environment with the safety of the participant being the primary concern.  Beginners work on safety, and basic front and back dives.  More advanced divers will learn new, more difficult dives, dependent on individual readiness.

Many LFC members take both swim and dive lessons all season long as a great way to enhance fitness and enjoyment of the pool!  LFC Dive Lessons are also great preparation and additional training for participation in the LFC Dive Team. Minimum age is eight years old (as of June 1).

DIVE TEAM

To participate in LFC Dive Team, your child must be at least eight years old (as of June 1) and MUST have prior dive team/club experience. Our goal is to include as many kids as possible on the team, but first and foremost to keep everyone safe. Children without prior dive experience should sign up for Dive Lessons and they can be referred to the Dive Team at any point throughout the season on a pro-rated basis.

The LFC Dive Team participates in meets in a round-robin circuit with other teams in the Intersuburban Swim Conference. The meets typically last around 1-2 hours, depending on the number of participants.
